Iejima - 2008 style

Yesterday was my first time going back to Ie-jima in almost 8 months... that's WAY too long between visits! Well it was supposed to rain and so I wasn't sure if we should even go, but God did what He does so faithfully and so well, and stopped the rain for exactly the 6 hours were were on the island. By the way, "we" would be Joe, Toshi, Nozomi, Yuka and myself. God also provided a vehicle for us when we got to the island, as Pastor Nomura so kindly allowed us to use his van. Actually he not only provided wheels for us, but also invited us into his home, where "10 minutes" of having tea together wound up being 2.5 hours of chatting and enjoying a light lunch! I'm so blessed to have a loving family on Iejima that welcomes me so warmly whenever I visit!

So on the way up to Motobu, I drove with Toshi and Nozomi, while Joe took Yuka in his car. Then on the way back, we switched it up, and Joe took Nozomi while I had Toshi and Yuka with me. It was so awesome to hear testimonies and different things God is doing in the lives of each of them. God has given me an awesome family in Christ at Calvary Chapel Ginowan!

So we checked out the lily flowers (there are said to be over 100,000 flowers in bloom during this time of year), climbed the mountain, gazed out at the ocean, and visited my old school, which they are demolishing this summer and building a new school. Overall, we had an incredible day, and I was so blessed to spend it with really cool people! Oh, and I saw a few former students, too - they're all grown up now... like 22-23 years old!
