Interview update, once again!

Well, I received a phone call from Okisho (the school that seems to be interested in me), and my final interview has been set for Wednesday at 4pm. That would be Wednesday 1am Winnipeg time. Remember to keep me in your prayers! I will post again when I know more!

Job Interview Update, part 2

I got an e-mail a couple of days ago from Okisho (the private school that interviewed me on Monday). They want me to come in for a final interview! They actually asked me to set the time, so I asked for Monday afternoon, which would enable me to attend most of the school day, thus minimizing the amount of paid leave I will have to take. So anyhow, the date/time hasn't been finalized yet, but pray for me nonetheless. Again, like I said last time... I do not want to take this job just because it pays well or it's prestigious! Only if it's God's will for my life! Thanks for always checking in, guys!

My final English class

On Thursday nights for the past year, I have been teaching an English conversation class for three adult ladies. Last night was my final session with them, unfortunately. My schedule, combined with the location of the class (Yomitan, about 40 minutes' drive from my home) meant I had to hand over the reins to someone else. Fortunately, God has blessed the class with a young lady named Ally Requejo. She is a wonderful Christian woman who has a lot of energy and a desire to teach and reach out to the Japanese people. She is also one of my Japanese students on Tuesday evenings! Here is a picture of our final class. Unfortunately, Sayuri could not make it. But Ally came and met her new students, and we had a blessed night of delicious food and good conversation!

Job Interview Update

This morning I went to my job interview. I really should have done more research on the school before arriving, and things would have gone a lot smoother. BUT... I believe I managed to impress them nonetheless with my answers. Praise God for giving me the words (the interview was conducted in both English and Japanese), and for lifting my spirits up today! I will find out whether or not I got the job next week... so keep it in your prayers, please! I don't want to take this job unless it is God's will for me!

Cherry blossoms!

Yesterday on my way home from church, I stopped and smelled the roses. Well actually I didn't smell, and they weren't roses. But they were cherry blossoms, and I did take pictures and enjoy their beauty! God is amazing... creator of all good things!

Another interview!

So in my last post, I was saying that I thought my last interview was God's way of telling me, "Don't worry about anything. I'm in control and I'll provide!" Well I just got an e-mail 5 minutes ago from a private school in Naha (regarded by many as one of the best in Okinawa) for an interview on Monday morning! If you read this before then, please pray for me! I only want to do this if it's God's will. But I'm just excited to have gotten another interview. It shows me that God has blessed me... even if this isn't the job, He has lifted my head once again!

Praise the Lord

I just came back from a job interview! I got a phone call this morning at around 10:30am, and was interviewed at 2pm. Praise the Lord, I did not get the job. What? Praise the Lord that the job isn't mine? Well, this shows me that He wants me elsewhere. Last week when I was hunting for a job, I felt really down because it seemed as though none of the places I dropped off my resume showed any promise. But today was all about God saying, "Don't you doubt me... I've got more in store for you than you can imagine!" Today gave me hope, which is something I most definitely did not have last Wednesday evening! So praise God, this job isn't mine... but I'm hungry and ready (and waiting with anticipation) for another phone call from another business... one that will hire me, one that God is preparing the way for me to work at!

Karaoke fun!

Sunday after a blessed time at W2 (Worship and Word), I went out for karaoke with two of my good friends, Natsuki and Kumiko. I'll say this much, the choirs in heaven are going to blow my mind because these two mortals already impress me with their voices! We had a great time, and I think Natsuki got the high score of the night with 93. I got a 90 for singing a Japanese rip-off of the Banana Boat Song (Day-O), a song tributing the pitching abilities of Hideo Nomo! Good times... here's a pic of the 3 of us afterwards. Yeah we were tired... lotsa singing that night!

It is finished

Well folks, my days as a bearded man are over. Alas, tomorrow is job hunting day, and facial hair is not looked favourably upon in Japan - probably because they have such problems growing it themselves (just joking)! Anyways, here's a pic of me with goatee and post-goatee. Which look suits me best? Feel free to post your opinion!

Back Again!

Well by popular demand, I donned my Arab gear and went to school today. The response has been quite interesting - mostly laughs and "you look so cool!" but a few horrified shrieks, too. Shrieking at the shiek! Attached are pictures of me in the Arab gear - the top one is from 4.5 years ago, and the bottom one is from today!
